The three trauma bay beds, also known as Penguin Pod 1, 2 and 3, are dedicated exclusively to the care of the most critically ill patients and those with significant trauma. The ED attending and fellows are primarily resposible for management of traumas. The trauma codes are managed by a multi-disciplinary approach, which involves pediatric trauma surgery, anesthesiology,neurosurgery, and orthopedics, in addition to the ED physicians, nurses, and other staff.
