Intensive Care Transport Team

Since 1985, the DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan Intensive Care Transport Team has provided highly specialized
care and transport of critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients from all over Michigan.

With more than 1,000 transports each year, specially trained registered nurses and respiratory therapists provide an extension of Children's Hospital to the community 24 hours per day.

The team is trained in an advanced practice role and functions under physician directed protocols and standards specific to the care of infants and children. Children have unique needs and require a health care team that can handle all of them.

For 25 years, the Children’s Hospital of Michigan has offered the state's only dedicated pediatric and neonatal transport team. The transport team uses a dedicated ambulance, PANDA One, and air ambulance via helicopter (rotor) and fixed wing (Lear jet) that is designed for the special needs of neonatal or pediatric patients.
