Bike Safety and Helmet Program
Brains Be Safe provides education on bike and helmet safety and provides helmets (biking, blading and skiing) at an affordable price. Each helmet is individually fit to the child or adults head. Helmet events are also held at community events and city-wide events.
Bullying/Good Citizenship
Car Seat Checks allows families to get their car seat checked with their child in it and while the seat is in the car.
Community CPR is available to provide CPR education in the community.
DMC Think First Program focuses on raising students’ awareness on reducing brain and spinal cord injuries.
Injury Free Coalition for Kids Detroit primarily works with Head Starts in Metro Detroit. The initiatives include child passenger, bike, pedestrian safety and safe sleep.
Injury Prevention Presentations and Programs
Kohl’s Cares Safe Travel Program helps parents and caregivers with passenger safety education and car seats, car beds, special needs car seats and any other passenger safety needs they may have. This program also holds community car seat checks and passenger safety education.
Safe Baby Checks are home visits of recently delivered mothers & caregivers to do a home safety assessment.
Safe Baby University (SBU) provides life-saving information to expectant mothers.
Safe Kids Metro Detroit is a coalition of partners interested in protecting children from unintentional injury. The Coalition is based in Oakland and Wayne Counties and the initiatives included child passenger, pedestrian, and railroad safety education and provides car seat checks in the community.
Safe Sitter Class teaches children 11- 13 years skills to care for younger children. Scholarships are available.
Safety Town is a week long summer program that teaches pre-school children bike & pedestrian safety, fire & burn safety, poison, falls and calling 911, gun safety, sun safety, nutrition, and much, much more. Scholarships will be available for children to attend.
Smoke Alarm Installation Program
Installs smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and provides life saving education and provides life saving education in families homes.
Sports Safety
State Wide Conference brings experts from across the state to present the latest injury prevention information, state and local initiatives.
Trauma Injury Related Program is taught in schools, youth programs and anywhere children and/or parents have come together in a formal learning setting.
