The Children’s Hospital of Michigan Ranks Among America’s Best
The Children’s Hospital of Michigan at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) is among the best in the country in four pediatric specialties according to the new 2016-17 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings. The Children’s Hospital of Michigan is nationally ranked in: Neurology & Neurosurgery, Nephrology, Orthopedics and Cardiology & Heart Surgery.
The U.S. News Best Children’s Hospitals rankings help parents determine where to get the best medical care for their children. The rankings highlight the top 50 U.S. pediatric facilities in 10 specialties, from cancer to urology. 78 hospitals ranked in at least one specialty.
“This national recognition reflects our commitment to bring the very best, compassionately delivered and quality-driven medical care to children and their loved ones in this community and to all the patients we serve from around the world,” said the Children’s Hospital of Michigan’s Pediatrician-in-Chief and Wayne State University School of Medicine Chair of Pediatrics Steven E. Lipshultz, M.D., F.A.A.P., F.A.H.A. “This affirms the expertise of the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in providing advanced patient care to some of the most seriously ill and medically complex children, who often have rare illnesses from before birth to young adulthood.”
“Our work is not done,” Lipshultz added. “We drive toward excellence every single day and constantly seek to improve.”
U.S. News introduced the Best Children’s Hospitals rankings in 2007 to help families of children with rare or life threatening illnesses find the best medical care available. The rankings open the door to an array of detailed information about each hospital’s performance.
“The Children’s Hospital of Michigan is consistently recognized as one of America’s best hospitals for children which exemplifies the commitment of our entire health care team to patient quality, safety, innovations and research for the children and families we serve,” said the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Surgeon-in-Chief Joseph L. Lelli, M.D. “There are only a handful of children’s hospitals like ours across the country that provide a full range of advanced services and specialties designed especially for kids. We’re honored to be recognized for the unique role we play in caring for the health and well being of children and their families.”
“The Best Children’s Hospitals highlight pediatric centers that offer exceptional care for the kids who need the most help,” said U.S. News Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow. “Day in and day out, they deliver state-of-the-art medical care.”
The U.S. News Best Children’s Hospitals rankings rely on clinical data and on an annual survey of pediatric specialists.
