Largest and Most Experienced Program in Metropolitan Detroit
The Department of Otolaryngology at Children's Hospital of Michigan at the Detroit Medical Center is the largest pediatric ear, nose and throat (ENT) program in Metropolitan Detroit. Pediatric ENT specialists on staff at Children’s Hospital of Michigan perform more procedures and provide specialized care to more children than any other hospital in Southeast Michigan. The Children’s Hospital of Michigan offers diagnosis and treatment of hundreds of ear, nose and throat (ENT) medical conditions.
In addition to providing routine ENT care for otherwise healthy children, the department also treats very sick and chronically ill children that other ENT programs may not perform due to a higher risk of complications and higher complexity. From common procedures like tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy and the placement of ear tubes to more complex airway, trauma, sinus, head and neck and ear procedures, board certified and fellowship trained pediatric ENT specialists on staff at the Children's Hospital of Michigan provide the latest surgical and non-surgical care for a broad range of conditions affecting all children.
Many of the children under treatment are also plagued with allergies, asthma, and obstructive airway conditions. These ailments can not only interrupt play dates and fun times, but often affect school performance and attendance. Comprehensive treatment is provided to minimize and disruption in school and activities for kids.
Additional expertise includes pediatric airway disease, sinusitis, all types of pediatric ear and hearing conditions, obstructive sleep apnea, and tumors (both benign and malignant) of the head and neck. The team routinely works with audiology and speech pathology as well as other pediatric specialties to ensure your child gets the best treatment available.
Multi-specialty comprehensive care is provided for disorders such as aerodigestive, sleep apnea, craniofacial abnormalities, vascular malformations and hearing loss (Cochlear Implants and BAHA).
The ENT department is involved with several research programs and trial procedures that can lead to better treatments for ear, nose and throat conditions.
While most complex ENT procedures are performed in the hospital, Children's Hospital of Michigan also provide initial consultations, outpatient procedures and follow up care at several convenient hospital-based locations including: Canton, Clinton Township, Detroit, and and Troy .
