Smoke Alarm Installation Program
Installs smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and provides life saving education and provides life saving education in families homes. 

KIDS: BE SAFETY SMART ABOUT FIRES!

   • If there is a fire in your home, never hide! GET LOW, GET OUT, and STAY OUT! 
• Stop, drop, and roll if your clothes catch on fire. Running will make the flames worse. 
• Firefighters are good strangers and are there to help. It is okay to go with a firefighter in case of an emergency.
• NEVER CALL AN EMERGENCY NUMBER TO PLAY A JOKE OR CALL IN A FALSE ALARM.

PARENTS: HELP YOUR FAMILY BE SAFETY SMART ABOUT FIRES!
• Install and maintain at least 1 working smoke detector on each level of your home.
• Check smoke detector batteries once a month. Change the batteries every 6 months.
• Sit down with your family and develop a fire escape plan. This plan should include two ways out of each room in your home including rooms on second and third levels and even the basement.

Children and Fire

Children under age 5 are twice as likely as the rest of us to die in a fire. Each year, thousands of children are injured or killed in home fires, and 40 percent of them are under age five.

  • Matches, lighters, and other heat sources are the leading causes of fire-related deaths for children under age 5. 
  • Toddlers actually cause a large number of home fires by playing with lighters and matches. 
  • Children have a natural curiosity about fire and you can’t underestimate their ability to strike matches or start a lighter.

Space Heater Safety Tips

When the cold weather emerges, space heaters offer some families direct warmth in areas that may need additional heat.  If not used properly, however, space heaters can cause house fires leading to injury and burns.
