Physicians on staff of the Pediatric Liver Disease and Transplant Program have extensive experience in managing and treating children who have liver disease and require transplantation.
A Multidisciplinary Approach
The multidisciplinary approach ensures that the unique needs of each child are met. This includes a team made up of people with extensive experience in transplant and liver disease in children. The team includes the following members: gastroenterologist, hepatologist (liver doctor), anesthesiologist, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, and nurse coordinators. In addition, a social work team dedicated to the special needs of our patients assists with the before and after transplant process.
The Pediatric Liver Disease and Transplant team members work as a team in constant communication to discuss each child's unique needs and develop customized pre- and post-transplantation care plans for the best outcomes.
A Program Designed Just for Kids
Children with liver disease need specialized care from pediatric hepatologists, transplant surgeons and nurses who are dedicated to treating children. At the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, all we know and everything we do is just for them. That means staff provide all medical management and transplant services in a child-friendly environment designed to put both children and teens at ease.
