DETROIT — Children’s Hospital of Michigan is again ranked as one of the best in the country for pediatric care according to the new U.S. News & World Report 2020-21 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings published online today.

Children’s Hospital of Michigan is nationally ranked in six pediatric specialties; cardiology and heart surgery, gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics and urology.

The 14th annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings recognize the top 50 pediatric facilities across the U.S. in 10 pediatric specialties: cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and lung surgery, and urology.

“Children’s Hospital of Michigan is consistently recognized as one of America’s best hospitals. This recognition exemplifies the commitment of our dedicated care team to providing the most compassionate, safest, most innovative and highest quality pediatric care to our patients and their families,” said the Children’s Hospital of Michigan CEO Kathy Donovan. “We’re extremely honored and proud of our team for the unique role they play in delivering exceptional care for children throughout the State of Michigan and beyond.”

U.S. News introduced the Best Children’s Hospitals rankings in 2007 to help families of children with rare or life-threatening illnesses find the best medical care available. The rankings are the most comprehensive source of quality-related information on U.S. pediatric hospitals.

“Even in the midst of a pandemic, children have healthcare needs ranging from routine vaccinations to life-saving surgery and chemotherapy,” said Ben Harder, Managing Editor and Chief of Health Analysis at U.S. News. “The Best Children's Hospitals rankings are designed to help parents find quality medical care for a sick child and inform families’ conversations with pediatricians.”

The U.S. News Best Children’s Hospitals rankings rely on clinical data and on an annual survey of pediatric specialists. The rankings methodology factors in patient outcomes, such as mortality and infection rates, as well as available clinical resources and compliance with best practices.
