Pediatric Trauma Center

Children’s Hospital of Michigan treats the most children for inpatient trauma care in the state of Michigan. Children’s Hospital of Michigan is also an American College of Surgeons verified, free-standing Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. The verification provides confirmation that a trauma center has demonstrated its commitment to providing the highest quality trauma care for all injured patients.

Children's Hospital of Michigan provides exceptional care, around the clock, to injured children and families from time of injury through recovery and rehabilitation. When pediatric patients need emergency transport, Children's Hospital of Michigan's provides PANDA One a dedicated pediatric and neonatal ambulance service and team.

The Children's Hospital of Michigan Trauma Center offers a advanced intensive care unit, step-down unit, burn center and full-service emergency department. The imaging department provides 24-hour emergency CT scans, angiographies and other diagnostic procedures to aid in the treatment of the injured child. Additionally, an operating room is reserved for trauma patients 24 hours a day.

The Trauma Center is a member of the State of Michigan Region 2 South State Trauma System, Regional Disaster Network and Detroit East Medical Control Authority. It also provides leadership in community based injury prevention and pediatric continuing education for healthcare professionals throughout southeast Michigan. The staff conducts, evaluates and disseminates evidence based research and outcomes regionally, nationally and internationally.
