Cecilia Helwig, MD

"I am an experienced fellowship-trained Pediatric Otolaryngologist. My scope of practice includes a wide range of conditions involving ear, nose and throat in children, from snoring and frequent ear infections to more complex issues such as neck masses and cochlear implantation. Additionally, I have medical expertise in the management of hearing loss, airway obstruction, chronic sinusitis and drooling, to name a few.” Dr. Helwig is passionate about educating and empowering her patients and families to help them make well-informed decisions about their treatment. She is committed to improving the health of her patients with the latest medical guidelines and the most advanced surgical procedures. Dr. Helwig received her medical school and residency training in Otolaryngology at the University of Chile. She completed her fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at the University of California San Diego, Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, California. Before joining DMC, Dr. Helwig served as Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. She previously served as the director of the Pediatric Cochlear Implant Program at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania from 2007-2017. She is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology, where she currently is a member of the Development Committee. Dr. Helwig has written articles and book chapters in the fields of Pediatric Otolaryngology. In her free time, Dr. Helwig likes to run and spends most of her free time with her husband on a baseball or softball field cheering on their two children. Dr. Helwig is fluent in Spanish.
