Steven Slotkin, MD

Dr. Steven Slotkin strives to make patients and their families feel like members of his own family. Dr. Slotkin feels that the only way to do this is to foster relationships that are built on mutual trust and respect and that utilize shared decision making between all parties. Dr. Slotkin grew up in New Jersey and moved to Michigan for college and graduate studies at the University of Michigan in the College of Engineering. After graduating with a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, he worked for two years for a Metro Detroit Automotive Supplier. When Dr. Slotkin discovered that Engineering wasn’t his true passion, he went to medical school in Detroit and soon fell in love with Orthopaedics. Dr. Slotkin’s Orthopaedic residency in Detroit taught him about the city and its people. He found the biggest challenges and gratification in caring for children during his training at Gillette Specialty Children’s Hospital in Minnesota and chose to pursue further training in Pediatric Orthopaedics in Dallas, Texas, at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. It was in Dallas that he was able to appreciate the entire spectrum of musculoskeletal pathology that children may experience. He is thrilled to be able to return to the Detroit area, which has served as the foundation for his medical training.
