Visitor Information
NEW Flu Season Visitor Policy
Effective January 8, 2025
Children's Hospital of Michigan has implemented an updated Visitor Policy this flu season for the health and safety of our patients and their families:
- For inpatient services, all patients are allowed two (2) visitors at any one time (this includes the patient's legal guardians or caregivers).
- Visitors age 12 and under - including siblings and other relatives - will not be allowed on inpatient hospital floors or in the observation units.
- Visitors age 13 and over who exhibit illness or cold symptoms such as fever, cough, or rash will be asked to choose another time to visit during a period of wellness.
Visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 7 days a week.
We will continue to provide stations with free masks and hand sanitizer at entrances for patients, visitors and team members who choose to use them. Patients can also ask their care teams to wear masks.
Exceptions to the Visitor Policy will be handled on an individual basis under the guidance of the direct care team. Example of an exception includes:
- Patients with physical, mental or cognitive disabilities who require support from family members or staff in order for them to effectively communicate with medical personnel or otherwise receive equal access to medical treatment.
