Experienced healthcare leader Andrew Yee to lead Michigan hospital

DETROIT – Children’s Hospital of Michigan is pleased to announce the appointment of accomplished healthcare executive Andrew Yee as the hospital’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Most recently, Yee served as Chief Operating Officer for Lakewood Regional Medical Center and Interim Chief Operating Officer for Los Alamitos Medical Center in California. During his tenure, Yee consistently advanced operational performance, patient experience and service line growth.

“Andrew is recognized as a collaborative, visible and results-oriented leader who values strong relationships with physicians, employees and the communities he serves,” Detroit Medical Center CEO Brittany Lavis said. “He combines strategic vision with hands-on operational leadership and is committed to fostering a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement.”

Yee said since he arrived in July, those he has met with at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and in the community have shared what makes the hospital unique in how it serves the pediatric population throughout the region.

“I’ve been spending time listening, learning and engaging with teams throughout the hospital and community, and I appreciate the warm welcome to Metro Detroit,” Yee said. “I look forward to building upon Children's Hospital of Michigan's longstanding legacy of clinical excellence, innovation, research and compassionate pediatric care.”

Yee earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Health Sector Management from Duke University and a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Human Biology, Health and Society from Cornell University. He also published a book chapter on cardiovascular gene therapy while a student at Vanderbilt University’s School of Medicine.
