Welcome to the website for the Clinical Psychology Internship at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Our APA-accredited internship provides the 2000 hours of clinical experience required for attaining Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical psychology. We provide specialty tracks in pediatric psychology and pediatric neuropsychology.

We are excited that you are considering applying to our internship! Pediatric psychology and pediatric neuropsychology are vibrant specialties with a number of innovative opportunities for you to work in integrated health care systems, children’s hospitals, medical schools, community clinics, physician specialty groups, and private practices. Our alumni are employed in all of these settings. In recent years, most graduates have continued their training at Pediatric Psychology or Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowships throughout the country.

The goal of our full time Internship is to prepare you for entry level practice in the field of pediatric psychology or pediatric neuropsychology, and/or for advanced post-doctoral fellowship training in these areas. The 2025 Children’s Hospital of Michigan mission statement is as follows: We help children and their families live happier, healthier lives by engaging our Children’s Hospital of Michigan Family with theirs and by making every moment matter.  As you learn and work with our patients under our supervision, you contribute to improving their well-being, furthering the mission of the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. You also advance the science of psychology by learning and using the latest evidence-based assessment and intervention techniques.

Because the Children's Hospital of Michigan is a major referral center for Southeastern Michigan, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of patients with many different medical and/or psychiatric conditions from highly diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We proudly work beside our pediatric and surgical colleagues in multidisciplinary outpatient pediatric specialty clinics and inpatient consultation liaison. The Children’s Hospital of Michigan was founded in 1886, and Psychology has been present at our hospital since 1949. We have developed excellent relationships with our medical colleagues who genuinely value and appreciate our consultative assistance. The Children’s Hospital of Michigan has a long history of training psychology students, and our internship has been continuously accredited by the American Psychological Association since 1988.

Our internship is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation (CoA) of the American Psychological Association (APA) and maintains Membership in the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC). In 2017, the internship received a full 10 year re-accreditation from the CoA. The accreditation status of the internship can be verified at APA-Accredited Programs or by contacting the Commission on Accreditation:
